Meditation For The Mind

Meditation is known to help calm your busy mind and for a person to find inner peace from within. Everyone may meditate in different ways, some sitting on their knees, some sitting Indian style, some with hands relaxed on their knees, and some with palms up. Also, if you are religious you can also add a prayer while you are meditating.

Meditating is something new for me, so to be honest I am learning right along with you. Some advice I have been giving and have also learned from trying on my own are as followed:

1. Try to sit up right and have good posture

2. Relax, but not to the point where you are falling asleep

3. Meditate in a comfortable place in your house or apartment where you feel happy and safe, or if you can go outside to a beach or forest, somewhere that makes you happy.

4. Count your breathes, and count 1 while you inhale, and 2 while you exhale all the way to 4 and then back to 1, repeat.

5. When you have trouble with many thoughts racing through your brain go back to counting your breathes, make this your main focus.

6. If you aren’t use to meditating try it for 5-10 minutes a day, until you are comfortable to do it longer and then you can meditate anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour or more, it’s all up to you. : )

Hopefully my advice can help you find your perfect way of meditation.

You Are What You Eat!

Remember when you were little and you would hear the saying, “You are what you eat?” Well, it’s true in a sense. No, you aren’t going to turn into a huge walking pizza with arms and legs if you eat a pizza, or a walking bunch of grapes with arms and legs if you eat grapes. (Although, this would make a funny Halloween costume! ) BUT.. the way you eat makes you feel certain ways with your body and within your mind.

For example, you know when you are craving McDonald’s and you just can’t help yourself and you over eat every bite of that double cheese burger and french fries, while finishing it off slurping down a soda? Well, how do you feel afterwards? Your body feels exhausted and lazy, and your mind usually feels towards.. blah.

Here are some examples of foods that can help your mind and body both feel Ahhhmazing!!

Foods Rich In B vitamins

Especially B6 vitamins are a must for your overall well-being physically and mentally. Actually the B6 vitamin aids in the formation of neurotransmitters and raises the serotonin levels in your brain. It has been proven that low levels of serotonin in the brain lead to depression and migraines, so.. starting eating more foods rich in B6 vitamins!! Some of these foods include:

-Salmon, Bananas, Garbanzo Beans, Oatmeal, avocados, Chicken, Eggs, Walnuts, Peanut Butter, Turkey

Foods Rich In Fibers

Fiber is known to help regulate blood sugar and also can help those who have problems with constipation. Here are some foods high in fiber:

-Spinach, Kale, Fruits and Veggies, cabbage, black beans, flax seeds, wheat bread,

Foods Rich In Iron

Iron helps regulate cell growth in the body and also helps you feel energized and alive. Here are some foods rich in iron:

-White beans, beef, baked potatoes, fish, eggs, nuts, prunes, oysters, avocados, pumpkin seeds, all types of liver; green leafy vegetables, and prunes.

PukkaTea For Mind and Body

Pukka Tea got it’s name from the translation of the word authentic in Hindi, which is exactly what this tea is. The first time I tried this tea I bought the Refresh tea box and was definetly not dissapointed. I remember the day I bought it I was visiting my sister in Louisville and we were talking about how every woman we know including ourselves can have a lack of evergy wave at least one or two times a day so we found this tea and tried it out and felt a very natural uplifting feeling. The refresh tea contains: organic peppermint, fennel & rose tea: to uplift & balance.

Another one of my favorites is Harmonize, which is a balancing tea for women, and I have been trying to have one every day the past two weeks to help me feel an overal balance. This tea contains: organic rose, sweet vanilla & chamomile tea with shatavari: to uplift and balance.

There are many different types of Pukka teas as well, no matter what you need a little extra of in your life. Do you need energy, help sleeping, help with digestion, or something else´? You can find basically anything you need, look here! : http://www.pukkaherbs.com/tea-room/all-our-teas.html

Enjoy your tea, friends!
